What stabilizing, no-mow plant can I plant on a south-facing slope in Virginia?

you could plant crown vetch, sweet william. creeping thyme, phlox. If I end up getting the house I will have the same problem in my back yard. I live in WV. I think I will end up planting either phlox or vetch.
