get the cane.. the beauty of the cane is it is a great weapon. also from a legal stand point it can be carried anywhere and is never considered a weapon by the police unlike rolls of coins in a sock or a common household item modified to be a weapon. you can get videos of cane self defense techniques or check one out on you tube.
