Have you learned the Heimlich maneuver to help someone who is choking?

I used to teach CPR cles which include this. I used it twice. Once was at a co. picnic; the man across from me was eating a steak and I noticed that was in trouble. The table was very long and we were in the middle. I didn't want to take the time to go around, so I jumped right over the table (younger then) and sure surprised his wife, who was next to him. I started the procedure, but he was bigger than me and another health professional took over and he was successful. The other time, my husband was choking on a ham sandwich the night before we separated. I saved him. If I had not been there, I would have collected a nice life ins. policy. Now his new wife gets it. I'm still glad I did it, but funny how life works out.
