Why does my computer turn off whenever I plug my iPod Touch into it?

I know that the new version of iTunes has some capatability issues with Windows XP...especially if it's on a laptop. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes as described in the article below...if the computer keeps giving you a Found New Hardware message, then the drivers aren't going on correctly either.
