Are looks that important for girls?

I am a 28, year old government servant. An istant Commissioner of Income Tax .My issue is that I am a below average looking guy. Though height is not bad, i.e five-seven yet I look much younger than my age, more like a high-school adolescent teenager. Once a girl said to me that as per my looks, no reasonable girl might ever take interest in me. I am very depressed over this. Don't know if I will ever get one of my wishes.
