How do I start a clothing accesory company?

I have a great idea for a product. I want to be a vendor to upscale clothing stores ie. Nordstroms, Barney's, Sak's, etc. Does anyone have experience in this field? What are the major steps involved and possible and probable problems that will arise? Where do I begin, and how much capital is needed?
