Which one of the following?

c. Stimulus amplitude is signaled by the frequency of action potentials during the stimulus. THis is because the action potential is "all-or-nothing" and therefore the only way to signal higher or lower amplitude is by increasing the frequency of the action potentials and so increasing the affects on the secondary neuron by causing further depolarization and therefore increased release of neurotransmitters.
